Daily Prompt: Captive’s Choice

You’ve been kidnapped and given a choice: would you rather be stranded on an island, dropped into an unknown forest, or locked in a strange building?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us CHOICE.

What a fun topic! This is right up my street, especially since I’ve been reminiscing and reconstructing my primary school desert island story, complete with being stranded on an island and being dropped into an unknown forest! I’d have to say, being locked in a strange building does not seem like a choice I would make. What does everyone want to do if they’re kidnapped or imprisoned? Escape. Being indefinitely locked in a strange building means there is absolutely no chance of escape, however the other two present an opportunity.

Being stranded on an island is probably the more dangerous one. If it was an island in a tropical climate I can imagine that you would last longer than if you were stranded on, say, a Scottish island, where you would inevitably perish on your own. If anyone reading this has seen ‘Girl Friday’, where actress and general legend Joanna Lumley is put onto an island to survive with a few packages brought from civilisation (cameramen), then you can see the potential enjoyment and troubles you could face even with help. It could be fun though, or at least I might find it fun. If you want to see Joanna Lumley in this greatly entertaining film/documentary, which is described on this YouTube video as:

Joanna Lumley cast away on the desert island Tsarabanjina. Beautiful scenery and a highly entertaining Joanna – the show that made us all want to leave civilization for a while to be alone, or with Joanna Lumley, on a desert island.

…then you can see Part I here and then navigate around YouTube to find the other parts! I highly recommend it!
